Gentle Touch Family Dentistry typically uses one of three dental implant options based on the patient’s needs. As their names imply, single dental implants are used when only one tooth needs replacing, and multiple dental implants are used when several teeth (usually near each other) need replacing. To replace entire sets of teeth, full mouth implants, or All-On-Four implants, are preferred. With these implants, four strategically placed posts are used to anchor the replacement teeth, minimizing the number of implants that are needed.
With all dental implant procedures, Gentle Touch Family Dentistry starts with a consultation to go over the process. In some cases, bone augmentation is required to strengthen the jawbone before surgery. Once the jaw is strong enough, the posts are inserted into the jawbone, left to heal (usually for several weeks), and then the crowns or bridges are added on top of them.
